Woven Bamboo Egg Pendant — 15cm

A small woven egg, sized for the places a full pendant would crowd.

Bamboo in a close diamond weave, closed into an egg with a small woven crown at the top, hung on a black cord from a slim black canopy. Lit, the whole shell glows and prints a fine lattice on the nearest wall; unlit, it is a pale oval about the size of a large melon, quiet enough to disappear. At 15 cm wide and 18 cm tall it is the smallest piece in the range — a bedside, a reading nook, a stair landing, or a row of three over a counter where one large shade would be too much.

Why it works

• Small enough to hang low over a bedside or a counter without blocking the view across the room
• A closed shape, so the bulb is hidden from every angle, including from below
• Three in a row carry less visual weight than one large shade, and this is the size for a row
• Black canopy and cord draw a thin line to the ceiling and leave the shade as the only pale thing
• Taller than it is wide, so it hangs as a drop rather than a ball

Before you buy

This is a hardwired ceiling fixture and needs an existing ceiling box; have an electrician hang it if you are not comfortable working at one. No bulb is included — a warm 2700 K LED shows the weave best. Bamboo is a dry-room material, so keep it out of bathrooms and away from steam. It is small — check the 15 cm width against the space before ordering; over a dining table it will read as a point of light rather than a shade. Weave spacing and exact diameter vary a little from the photographs.
