Why it earns its space.
A small rattan cone on a wood disc, angled wherever the bed or the chair needs it.
A woven rattan cone shade, 14.5 cm across, on a short metal arm from a round natural-wood backplate. The shade turns a full circle on the arm, so it can be pointed down at a pillow or a page, or up at the wall for a soft wash. Lit, the weave prints a fine lattice on the wall behind it and the open mouth throws a clear pool of light; unlit, it reads as a pale cone against a wooden disc. At 26 cm from the wall and 16.5 cm tall it is a bedside or reading fixture — either side of a bed, beside an armchair, over a hallway console, or in a pair on a landing.

Why it works

Before you buy
This is a hardwired wall fixture and needs an existing wall box; have an electrician fit it if you are not comfortable working at one. No bulb is included — a warm 2700 K LED shows the weave best, and because the mouth is open a frosted bulb is kinder to the eye than a clear one. Rattan is a dry-room material, so keep it out of bathrooms and away from steam. Weave spacing and exact diameter vary a little from the photographs.
